Water Purification

As a full-service provider of chemicals and chemical blending to a global market, at E & C Chemicals, we act as a single source solution for our customers. Our capabilities span the entire project life cycle; this includes samples of any size for validation, up to trailer loads of material shipped across the US.

In this example, we worked closely with a customer who needed a specialized water purification media that was to be used for general industrial and municipal applications. Their requirements included blending, packaging, and shipping to domestic and overseas locations. Fortunately our capabilities, experience and overall expertise in chemical handling allowed all work to be performed in-house. The media was composed of copper sulfate, maleic acid, and hydrochloric acid. This combination of chemicals required full compliance with stringent safety standards for mixing, packaging, and shipping.

Once we developed the correct blending procedure, and adjusted the PH to the supplied specifications, samples were provided to the client for approval. Once in full production, accommodations had to be made for the differing volume requirements of the various locations, which included totes, 55 gallon drums, and 5 gallon containers. Many of these shipments were destined for overseas locations, which require special considerations to comply with the requirements of ocean going freight. Shipping chemicals overseas is a complex undertaking, though we are fully ISO compliant, there is strict GHS documentation and labeling standards that must be observed. We have extensive experience working with GHS labeling, which is a globally recognized and required standard for the classification and labeling of chemicals. This process is far more comprehensive than just providing Safety Data Sheets; it calls for comprehensive classification and documentation that ensures smooth passage through all the varied rules and regulations that exist. Navigating this labyrinth of regulation could be a service on to its own, but we provide it as a standard service.
